The nose is the most projected feature on your face, so a natural and aesthetic result that harmonizes with the rest of your facial feature is needed to avoid the appearance of “nose job”.

Rhinoplasty in Guadalajara can be performed at any age after a young person stops growing. In women it is considered that on average 2 years after the first period has been completed and in boy around 17-18 years of age.

The surgery is performed through incisions inside the nose. The operation will not be noticed, unless scarring in patients who required decreasing the width of the nostrils, in which case the scars are placed in natural folds that make it unnoticeable. In special cases, when an open structure rhinoplasty is performed, with a horizontal incision in the columella (the structure that separates the two nostrils). After the surgery, a small adhesible splint is placed, which is removed on the fourth day. No plugs are placed inside the nose when it comes to cosmetic surgery. In some cases, like a deviated septum, silicone splints are placed but allow you to breathe through them and are not painful when removed. After removal of the adhesive splint a tape is applied on the nasal dorsum, which are changed 2 times a week for a period of 2 weeks.

Postoperative discomfort consist of congestion and some runny nose, for which decongestant medicine is prescribed. There’s usually no spontaneous pain, this only occurs if you touch your nose, so you are advised not to. You’ll have some areas of ecchymosis ( "bruises") and swollen eyelids and cheeks, which disappear from 5 to 7 days on average.

The procedure can be done under local or general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. In most cases you can go home 1 ½ after the surgery.

When a rhinoplasty is performed it is very important to evaluate the chin. When you have a very short chin, it gives the visual impression of a longer nose than it really is; furthermore, causing your mouth to look more prominent and altering your facial harmony.
